Meet Dr Maya

I'm Dr Maya Williams — a specialist anaesthetist and the founder of Origin Aesthetics. My career has been built on precision, patient safety, and a deep respect for the complexity of the human body. I've brought that same foundation into aesthetic medicine, and it shapes everything I do here.

Our Story

My interest in aesthetic medicine grew gradually — partly through my own experience of noticing the natural changes that come with age, and partly through seeing how meaningful subtle, well-considered treatment can be. Not dramatic change, but quiet restoration. Helping someone feel more like themselves again is what drew me to this work.

I established Origin Aesthetics because I wanted to offer something different: aesthetic medicine practised with the full weight of specialist medical training behind it, in an environment where patients feel genuinely heard, safe, and cared for.

I'm fascinated by this field — by how rapidly it is evolving, by the science behind it, and by the positive effect that feeling more comfortable in your own skin can have on confidence and daily life. The creativity it brings to my career, alongside the patient relationships and the privilege of this work, are things I genuinely love.

Clinical Background

A woman with auburn hair and earrings, wearing a white blazer and beige top, leaning on a wooden table with her hand, standing in a room with a large potted plant with broad green leaves.

I graduated as a doctor in 2009 and have built my career across New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom. I hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and continue to practise as a specialist anaesthetist at Hawke's Bay Hospital and in private practice.

It's this dual life — anaesthesia alongside aesthetics — that I believe makes each discipline better. Anaesthesia sharpens my precision and clinical judgement. Aesthetics brings creativity, continuity of care, and a kind of patient relationship I hadn't fully anticipated — and that I value enormously.

The healthcare professional is wearing a dark green uniform with a name tag and appears to be performing a cosmetic procedure or consultation.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am undertaking postgraduate training in cosmetic medicine to continue deepening my formal aesthetic training.
